Drinking Water Lab is Closed, effective December 1, 2023

Due to the recent staffing changes at the District, it has been decided not to attempt to renew the Accreditation of the Drinking Water Lab.  This decision was not made lightly and will be reviewed in a few years as our staff become more experienced.

PARIS UTILITY DISTRICT LABORATORY

The Paris Utility District Laboratory began in 1975 as a wastewater lab.  Testing was done for process control of the treatment plant and also compliance testing required by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection for the waste discharge license.  In 1986, we began drinking water testing as a commercial, State of Maine Accredited Lab.  Since that year we have tested more than 8,900 samples for Public Water Suppliers and over 4,500 samples for Private Well Owners.  Our Lab is State of Maine Accredited for coliform bacteria & E. coli bacteria.
